Yes, you heard that right. Lizzie McGuire is back, and boy are we excited. The hugely popular series that aired from 2001 to 2004 is soon to be rebooted and coming to our screens via Disney+.

The show that followed the life of Lizzie McGuire - played by Hilary Duff - was a Noughties sensation as it explored the peaks and troughs of teenage-hood.

With so much speculation surrounding the show, we're here to make your life a little easier by rounding up everything we know so far about the highly-anticipated series.

How old will Lizzie be?

The original ended in 2004 when Hilary was 16-years-old. The actress is now 31 and the show is due to look at Lizzie navigating this new stage in her life. Speaking to E! News Hilary said: "Finally being in my 30s. It felt like a good time to revisit her."

Lizzie has a boyfriend in the new series, who owns a chic restaurant in SoHo. Sadly though, this does mean that our dreams of Lizzie and Gordo getting married and living happily ever have been put on hold.

But who knows? Maybe a devastating break up might force them together? We won't hold our breath.

"My life has taken a few different forms and my moment wasn't on my 30th birthday, but it was definitely mid-20s, with a kid, already being like, 'Oh, this isn't going to look how I thought it was going to look'," Hilary added to Entertainment Weekly,

"I really want to tap into that. She's everyone's best friend and what everyone loves about her is how relatable she is, so I really wanna go on that 30-year-old journey with everybody."

What's the new plot going to be?

Lizzie will reportedly live in a modest place in Brooklyn, working as an apprentice to an interior designer. Like any other 20/30-something-year-old, we will see her juggling the different pressures of adult life whilst trying to maintain her cool in the big city.

According to Duff though, the character won't stay in New York very long. As the chaos of city life begins to wear her out, she eventually returns back to LA.

Who will star? Will we be seeing any of our old favourites?

Nothing has been confirmed but rumours suggest the much loved Gordo, played by Adam Lamberg, will be returning to our screens alongside lead star Hilary Duff. In a recent interview, an enthusiastic Hilary said "I really hope he's going to be involved."

Most exciting of them all though, there are speculations of a sparkling cameo by the one and only, Lizzo.

As news broke of the reboot last month, the 'Truth Hurts' tweeted Hilary: "Lemme get a cameo."

And it took no time at all for the actress to respond, writing back: "Ummmmm duh! Hired! Animated Lizzie might explode! Saw you in Brooklyn. DEAD."

When will it air?

No release date has been confirmed yet because filming hasn't started. The show is very much still in development however, so it won't be long before we find out.

It's set to be released on Disney's new streaming platform, Disney+, for which the UK release date has not yet been announced.

Stay tuned for more details!
