Fans were excited when news broke that crime-fighting trio The Powerpuff Girls were returning to our screens in a live action series, and now they've found the perfect trio to play the girls.

Yep, fans are likening Little Mix to the original Powerpuff Girls, by noticing a connection between the crime fighting cartoon characters and the band members in their latest music video, Confetti.

In the video, singers Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards are decked out in green, pink and blue outfits - just like the trio of superheroes we all love.

And we can see it tbh.

"The Powerpuff Girls we deserve #LittleMix #Confetti", wrote one fan.

While a second wrote: "This is the only Powerpuff girls live-action that I want to hear about @LittleMix #ConfettiMusicVideo."

A third posted: "The Powerpuff girls show should have been styled like Little Mix in the Confetti music video. Now THAT would have been a serve."

And a fourth paid homage to the original show, with the Tweet: "And so once again, the day is saved thanks to... the powerpuff girls!! @LittleMix #confettimusicvideo."

The new Powerpuff Girls reboot has been ordered for American network The CW and will see Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as "disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting."

Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody, who previously worked on the Veronica Mars reboot, will be executive producers on the new show.

This new offering is a far cry from the original show, which saw the three girls as cartoon characters fighting crime and dealing with everyday problems such as school and sibling rivalry, as well as fighting monsters and villains in their home town of Townsville, USA.

The CW has already cast the roles of Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom. They will be played by Dove Cameron, Yana Perrault and Chloe Bennett respectively.

We can't wait!
