The fifth season of Line of Duty had the nation well and truly gripped as we watched in disbelief as Hastings was taken into custody under suspicion of being 'H'.

And as always, the series finale brought the nail-bitingly corrupt cop drama to an almighty crescendo, putting Hastings in the clear but bringing up more questions about the mythical "bent coppers" named 'H'.

If you're missing your Line of Duty fix and waiting with bated breath for details about the next series, we have searched the internet high and low for every bit of information about the upcoming series.

Here's what we've found so far.

Season five ended with Hastings being brought into custody. (

When Is Line of Duty Series 6 Released?

It is yet to be confirmed when AC-12 will return to our screens in the bid to catch more "bent coppers," although we've done some digging.

Traditionally, the BBC series has aired on a two-cycle, meaning that that it would be slated for screens around Spring 2021.

Yet, show runner Jed Mercurio told Radio Times in October that he was aiming to have series six air "sometime in 2020" - although the BBC only recently commissioned the sixth instalment.

Jed told the publication: "I would hope it's sometime in 2020, next year. But that's not something that we're able to confirm."

Talking about when production might begin, he added: "That's something that we have at the planning stage, so we are working towards a date. We can't confirm everything until things are in place."

The AC-12 trio will be back. (

Who Has Been Cast In The Line of Duty Season 6 Line Up?

There's no doubt that we will see our favourite AC-12 trio; Adrian Dunbar (Supt Ted Hastings), Vicky McClure (DI Kate Fleming), and Martin Compston (DS Steve Arnott) return to the fold.

And given her character's integral part in series five, it's possible we'll see Anna Maxwell Martin return as Patricia Carmichael too.

Other notable characters who could possibly make a comeback include Taj Atwal (PC Tatleen Sohota) and Aiysha Hart (Murder Squad cop DS Sam Railston).

Line of Duty always attracts big guest stars to join the regular cast in their hunt for 'H'. In the past they have included, Stephen Graham, Keeley Hawes and Daniel Mays.

Until we get an air date, we'll be kept in the dark about the show's newest cast members.

Lisa McQueen said that the criminal gang had neutralised. (

Who is H? And Do We Know Anything About The Line Of Duty Series 6 Plot?

Isn't this the question on everybody's lips? And yes, we're still utterly baffled by it.

While we know nothing of what to expect from the upcoming series, what we do know is that 'H' is not one person but in fact four. Mind blown.

We imagine that series six will continue to follow AC-12 as they try to discover who the fourth corrupt police member is under the command of Hastings.

In the final episode of series five, Lisa McQueen told police the OCG was fully neutralised but we then learned member Ryan Pilkington is a junior police officer, so will he continue the OCG's work from the inside?

Viewers have a lot of questions about the upcoming instalment. (

So. Many. Questions.

We'll update this piece as we find out any new info, so keep your eyes peeled!
