The Bodyguard was one of the most talked about shows when it arrived on our screens in 2018. The BBC One series starring Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes was an instant success for its gripping storylines and great acting.
But if, like us, you're still waiting for news on a second series, then we have some news that may fill that Bodyguard-sized void.
Amazon Prime Video has announced a new series named The Rig, which will be directed by John Strickland, the director of several episodes of The Bodyguard. He also directed some episode of the BBC's other highly popular drama Line of Duty.

So what is the new show about? Written by newcomer David Macpherson, it follows the crew of the Kishorn Bravo oil rig, which is stationed off the Scottish coast in the dangerous waters of the North Sea.
The official log line says: "When the crew are due to return to the mainland, a mysterious and all-enveloping fog rolls through and they find themselves cut off from all communication with the shore and the outside world," the synopsis continues.
"As they endeavour to discover what's driving this force, bonds are broken, allegiances formed and generational fault lines exposed. The crew of the Bravo will be driven to the limits of both their loyalties and their endurance, into a confrontation with forces beyond their imagination."
When production begins next year, The Rig will become the first Amazon Original Series to be filmed exclusively in Scotland!

They are also planning to film the six-part thriller on an oil rig and at FirstStage Studios, the new Scottish film and TV studio space in Edinburgh.
We don't know who will be in the show yet or when it's due to be out.

There is no planned air date for The Rig yet, but we'll update you as soon as we know more.
