We have good news for Line of Duty fans. The BBC has confirmed that series 6 will premiere in March 2021.

Series 6 was originally commissioned in 2017 but filming had to pause due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Filming resumed in September and now we know when the long-running police drama will be back on screens.

Ever since filming restarted on Line of Duty series 6, creator Jed Mercurio has been giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what fans can expect from the new episodes.

Filming has taken place in Belfast, with Mercurio shared on Twitter with the caption: "#LineofDuty6 Another great week of filming in Belfast," alongside three photos taken on set.

The images show the likes of DI Kate Fleming (played by Vicky McClure), DS Steve Arnott (played by Martin Compston) and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) in what looks like an action packed scene.

In September he also shared a super exciting stunt scene image, of a white van tipped on its side. "#LineofDuty6 Huge respect to our stunts team led by Donal O'Farrell featuring ace stunt drivers Steph Carey and Dave Anders," he wrote.

"It's easy for me to write 'van rolls' - they make it happen. Steph doubled for Keeley Hawes in S2 and hardcore LoD fans will recognise Dave from S4..."

In related Line of Duty series 6 news, the director for the show is working on a new exciting thriller. Amazon Prime Video announced a new series named The Rig, which will be directed by John Strickland, the director of several episodes of The Bodyguard. He also directed some episode of the BBC's other highly popular drama Line of Duty.

The official log line says: "When the crew are due to return to the mainland, a mysterious and all-enveloping fog rolls through and they find themselves cut off from all communication with the shore and the outside world," the synopsis continues.

Lots of exciting things to come!
