Ever since the end of Downton Abbey, it's been a while since we got stuck into a good period drama - which is why Lily James' upcoming series, The Pursuit of Love cannot come soon enough.
The rom-com is set in Europe between the two World Wars and follows an upper class English family, focusing on Linda Radlett (played by Lily) and her best friend and cousin, Fanny Logan (played by Emily Beecham).

The drama is a three-part adaptation of Nancy Mitford's novel of the same name, and now, BBC has released some first look images.
And it looks so good.
The story follows the two cousins as they are consumed by a desire for love and marriage. But their friendship is put to the ultimate test when Fanny settles for a steady life while Linda fearlessly follows her heart, a decision of which takes her to wild and outrageous places.

BBC explain: "As social and political divisions split the nation, their diverging choices raise personal questions that remain intensely relevant today - questions about freedom, about love and sex, and the mystery of the human heart."
Alongside Lily and Emily, the drama is also set to star Fleabag's Andrew Scott as Lord Merlin, the Radlett's wealthy neighbour, Dominic West (The Affair), Dolly Wells (Dracula) and Emily Mortimer (Mary Poppins Returns, The Sense of an Ending).

Speaking about starring in the drama, Lily said: "It's great to be working with Emily. Her brilliant scripts bring new life to this story - full of love, full of friendship, very moving and sad in places, but also funny and true to life".
Meanwhile Emily added: "I've always loved Nancy Mitford so when I was asked to adapt 'The Pursuit of Love' it was impossible to say no. It's an outrageously funny and honest story, whose central character - the wild, love-addicted Linda Radlett - still reads as a radical."
The Pursuit of Love is set to arrive on BBC in 2021. We just know this is going to be a brilliant watch...
