'Liar' Writers Drop Major Hints About Season Two

'Liar' Writers Drop Major Hints About Season Two

After a dramatic hangover, any frustrated fans will be "rewarded for their patience" with the second season of the ITV drama.

The writers behind gripping ITV series Liar have teased some new details for season two.

Liar's plot saw Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt) be targeted by serial rapist Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffard).

And after she outed him as a serial rapist rather than the respectable surgeon the world saw him as, viewers were left on a major cliffhanger as Andrew's lifeless body was seen in marshlands with his throat slit (coincidentally where Laura was seen canoeing in the first scene).

Now Liar writers Harry and Jack Williams have re-confirmed that both Joanne and Iaon are back for season two, adding that anyone vexed by the cliffhanger would be "rewarded for their patience".

"It should be out in the autumn," they told TV Times. "Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd are back."

The writers continued: "We're delighted that anyone frustrated by the cliffhanger will be rewarded for their patience. Questions are answered and the title is central."

But enticing viewers in with a completely new twist to the story that could change everything, Harry added: "It's a different lie. Who's lying about what? The audience will be figuring that out."

It's unclear what this new lie will be about, and whether viewers will transported back in time before the 'murder' was committed or if the plot will continue where it left off with a series of flashbacks revealing the identity of the killer.

Either way, it sounds like the new series will be just as frustrating as the first as viewers attempt to decipher who is lying once again.

There's a number of suspects who could have killed-off Andrew, and Laura will probably be at the top of that list. She's not the only one though, as perhaps the surgeon's son, Luke, saw red or even Laura's ex Tom.

Liar will return to ITV this autumn, so fans have until then to keep guessing.
