Lewis Capaldi *never* disappoints at award ceremonies and last night at the BRITs, the singer delivered a hilarious acceptance speech after he scooped Best New Artist.

But if you were watching at home, you might not have heard it, as ITV had to mute some of Lewis' speech due to some naughty language.

Staggering on stage swigging from a bottle, the 'Hold Me While You Wait' singer accepted his first ever BRIT Award.

But ITV had to mute the star's speech as he started swearing before the watershed of 9pm.

At first, fans were confused, but now, a video is circulating on social media of Lewis' real speech - and it's pretty funny.

"Thank you very f***ing much, see you later," Lewis, 23, can be heard saying. Short but sweet, eh Lewis?

And it wasn't the only controversial speech Lewis made last night. He also referenced ex-girlfriend Paige Turley, who is a contestant in this year's Love island.

Accepting his second award for Best Song with his hit single, 'Someone You Loved' Lewis addressed reports that the track is about the islander.

Still clutching a bottle, he said: "Thanks very much... many people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend.

"But it's about my grandmother who sadly passed away. I hope that ITV don't contact her to be on a reality TV show."

He also added: "And thanks for my grandmother for dying!"

The singer wasn't the only one who triumphed at the BRITs last night. Mabel took home the award for Best British Female, while Billie Eilish scooped the award for Best International Female.

Meanwhile, Stormzy bagged the award for Best British Male while Dave won Best Album.

Lewis had fans in hysterics last month when he revealed he was mistaken for a member of staff at the Grammys.

Tweeting during the event, he told his followers how he was mistaken for a 'seat warmer' during the prestigious ceremony.

"A lady at the Grammys has just come up and offered to take my seat because she thought I was one of the people who sits in the chairs to fill them when someone gets up to use the bathroom #GRAMMYs," he tweeted.

Lewis, never change.
