Last Night's 'Luther' Left Viewers Terrified To Ride The Night Bus Ever Again
Luther made a dramatic comeback to the BBC last night, but left viewers terrified to ever take a trip on a bus ever again.
Idris Elba graced our screens as DCI John Luther on Tuesday, kick-starting the new year with more grisly murders committed in London to crack in the new four-part series.
And in one scene, a young woman was seen riding the night bus through the capital on her own on the top deck after all the other passengers got off at their stops.
Well, that's what she thought until a man wearing a creepy clown mask slipped out from underneath the seats and brutally stabbed her to death.
Viewers watching at home were so scared by the blood-curdling scenes that they vowed to never ride the bus at night ever again.
"I think this episode of #Luther was sponsored by Uber. F*ck getting the bus after that!" declared one horrified fan.
Plenty of other viewers also flocked to Twitter echoing the same sentiment, with another tweeting: "Just when you stopped checking under the bed, you're now checking the floor of the bus #Luther."
"1st January 2019, 9:39pm - the time the nation collectively decided never to get the night bus again. #Luther," posted a third scared fan.
And a fourth wrote: "So I'm never going out at night alone, getting on a bus, looking through a window or going into woods ever again. In fact I think I'll just sleep in a police station."
Creepy clown man wasn't the only serial killer episode one had to offer, as Luther's friend Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson) also made her return.
Fans will have been surprised to see the lovable villain make a comeback to series five as she was presumed dead at the start of the fourth.
Alice, who once brutally killed her entire family in a string of blood-bath murders Luther solved but couldn't prove, turned up at the detective's home towards the end of the episode.
Knocking at the door, Luther opened the door to be greeted by Alice with "wotcher".
What she's been up to will hopefully be revealed in the following three episodes of the four-part series, with the next airing tonight on BBC One at 9pm. The third and fourth episodes will air on 3rd and 4th January at the same time.
