The 1997 hit film, which is based on the James Patterson's best-selling 1995 novel of the same name, follows detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman) who's niece Naomi has been reported missing.
Leaving Washington, D.C. for North Carolina to help the search for his missing family member, Alex learns from fellow Detective Nick Ruskin that Naomi is one of eight young women to have vanished from the area.
Soon after Cross' arrival to Durham, one victim is found dead and bound to a tree. Now fearing the worst about his niece, Alex gets a break in the case when Dr Kate McTiernan (Ashley Judd) manages to escape the kidnapper's lair.
The next two hours are a thrilling watch as the pair team up to hunt down the elusive "collector" who calls himself Casanova, before he can cut the lives short of the women he kidnapped.
The neo-noir psychological thriller takes a deep dive into the thinking of a sociopath's intent to dominate strong-willed women and kill if they don't submit.
Casanova actions' in the film draws certain similarities to real-life serial killer Ted Bundy, mainly kidnapping his victims.
The Gary Fleder directed movie also stars Cary Elwes as Detective Nick Ruskin, Tony Goldwyn, who plays Dr. William 'Will' Rudolph, and Gina Ravera as Naomi Cross.
And after you've watched the film classic, you're going to want to delve into the sequel titled Along Came a Spider, which was released in 2001 and based on the book series by James Patterson.
That one's not available on Netflix - sorry. But you can rent it from YouTube or Google Play.
