It's been a *very* long week but thankfully the TV gods have come through with a gift, in the form of the first trailer for Killing Eve Series 3.

Dropping in the US next month (and the UK soon after), the new instalment will see Jodie Comer reprise her role as femme fatale assassin Villanelle who was dramatically shot at the end of the Series 2 finale.

The US launch date has been brought forward by two weeks as the global coronavirus pandemic continues to shake up TV production schedules. It will air on BBC America and AMC on 12th March, landing in the UK a day later.

The new clip comes just three days after the BBC dropped new promo shots from the upcoming series.

In one snap, Eve's estranged husband Niko - played by Owen McDonnell - is seen sitting outside looking rather lost, while Sean Delaney (Kenny) can be seen surrounded by what looks like moving boxes.

An earlier teaser showed the drama's heroine in full clown costume alongside new character Felix (played by Stefan Iancu), although writers have so far refused to elaborate on who the mystery man is and what his relationship is to Villanelle.

Further images show Villanelle starting a new life for herself in Barcelona, while Eve is carving out a new career (quite literally) as a chef.

In the cliffhanger season 2 finale, which aired in June last year, Villanelle appeared to shoot Eve dead - however in recently released behind-the-scenes images, Eve was pictured alive and well, sitting on a bench outside London's Liverpool Street station.

Having already been renewed for a fourth season, the nail-biting show has enjoyed huge success on both sides of the Atlantic, with a reported 46 million streaming requests on BBC iPlayer alone.

Over the last few weeks, BBC has been teasing the return of the highly-anticipated show with a series of images and clips.

The BBC also dropped a teaser that showed both leading actresses dressed head-to-toe in red, with psychopath Villanelle holding what appears to be some sort of scalpel.

During the 15-second clip - which gives fans a glimpse into what they might expect from Season 3 - Villanelle can be seen running the sharp tool across her lips before staring directly into the camera.

The clip then flashes between the two women before Villanelle can be seen holding up the scalpel. It's pretty terrifying.

Killing Eve Season 3 lands on BBC America on 12th April and BBC iPlayer on 13th April
