Disney+ has just ordered a brand new supernatural horror series based on R.L. Stine's graphic novel Just Beyond - and if you liked Stranger Things, we have a feeling you'll love this.

Based on the graphic novel by R.L. Stine - who also penned the iconic children's books, Goosebumps - Just Beyond is being adapted for an 8-episode series by writer Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) for Disney's new streaming service.

With shades of hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Just Beyond follows three school students Jess, Josh, and Marco who have a chance encounter with a deadly creature stalking the school halls.

"These three unsuspecting students are whisked away to a horrifying realm beyond the school boiler room where they must unravel a terrifying mystery," reads the official summary by BOOM! Studios, who published the original comic in 2001.

"Can they save the kids they find there and escape themselves, or will they be forever trapped Just Beyond?"

Described as a "horror/comedy anthology", the series will see R.L. Stine is attached as co-executive producer. There's no word on casting yet, but Just Beyond is expected to land in autumn 2021.

"I grew up watching Twilight Zone reruns and the original Amazing Stories with my parents," said Seth Grahame-Smith.

"I've always wanted to make a genre anthology series that families could enjoy together, and do it in a way that delivered for kids and adults alike.

"R.L. Stine has been a part of millions of childhoods, and Disney+ has already proven itself as a place that knows how to make high-quality shows for the whole family. I couldn't be more excited to be working with both of them."

It's big year for the author, 76, who is already gearing up for a live-action remake of his bestselling books, Goosebumps.

According to Deadline, Neal H. Moritz, producer of Goosebumps and Goosebumps 2 has teamed up with Scholastic Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV to work on the spooky series.

While there's no official release date for either project yet, there's a lot to get excited about for R.L. Stine and horror fans!
