Filming for Jurassic World: Dominion has been paused due to several cases of coronavirus cases on set.

Director Colin Trevorrow tweeted the news on Wednesday 7th October, writing: "Woke up to the news we had a few positive coronavirus tests on Jurassic World: Dominion."

"All tested negative shortly after, but due to our safety protocols we're going to pause for two weeks. Back soon."

Further details were shared on Jurassic World: Dominion's Insta feed, with a post explaining there had been "a small amount of positive tests for Covid-19" on the production.

The post read: "Even though subsequent tests proved negative this morning, due to our rigid protocols and to ensure that the safety and well-being of our entire cast and crew is paramount at all times, those who initially tested positive are currently self-isolating, as are those who they have come into contact with."

It continued: "As a result filming has been temporarily paused and will resume in accordance with established safety guidelines."

It comes the day after it was announced that the movie, which was originally due to come out on 11th June 2021, will now be released on 10th June 2022.

Fans of the dino-themed franchise will have another year to wait before the hotly awaited spin-off's cinema debut.

Talking about the delay, Trevorrow tweeted: "For the past three months, I've worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can't wait to share with the world.

"Even though we'll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let's stay healthy and take care of each other until then."

Jurassic World: Dominion is a sequel to 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which in turn was a sequel to 2015's Jurassic World.
