Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow has revealed the third instalment of the franchise is going to be a "culmination" of all the other films.

The next movie in the dinosaur franchise is set to air in 2022, with legends Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum all returning to the big screen.

They will be joined by Jurassic World staples Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

And Trevorrow has now teased that the movie is set to be "a celebration of the whole franchise", adding that we can expect it to be "a culmination of one story that's been told".

"When you got to the end of the Jurassic Park trilogy, it may not have been as clear in what the complete story of those three movies was because they were a bit more episodic in the way that they were approached," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"But this trilogy is not that way. It's very much a serialised story. What was important for me was, when you watch Dominion, you really feel like you are learning how much of a story that first set of movies was and how everything that happened in those movies actually informs what ultimately is able to happen in this.

"If kids who are born today are going to be presented with six Jurassic Park movies - you hope the parents will buy them the box set - you hope they are going to get to feel like they watch one long story."

The film faced a plethora of challenges since it first went into production. It was initially halted by the first coronavirus lockdown back in March, which saw a number of television shows and movies put on hold.

The team also saw production suspended more recently after a number of crew tested positive for coronavirus.

In November, after filming wrapped later than anticipated, director Trevorrow took to social media to announce the news that production had concluded.,

He wrote on Instagram: "Wrap on Jurassic World: Dominion. Always hard to say goodbye to family."

Trevorrow added to Deadline: "I'm not sure I can put it into words. It has been remarkable. Our crew and our cast has been so resilient. All producers have worked around the clock to make it the best it can be. It has been inspiring."

While the film has finished shooting, we still have quite a long time to wait before Jurassic World: Dominion finally hits cinemas.

Dominion is thought to be the final movie in the Jurassic World series. It is currently scheduled to land on the big screen on June 10th, 2022.

However, Pratt, who plays Owen Grady in the Jurassic reboot, has promised we have plenty to look forward to.

"Man, I can't tell you anything, but I can tell you it's going to blow your mind," he previously told Variety.

"It's going to be the biggest and best yet. They spared no expense and they're bringing everybody back."
