This early autumnal weather has us very ready to cosy up for some gripping telly - so we're extra excited that JK Rowling's Strike: Lethal White is returning to BBC One for a new series this weekend.

Anyone else beyond thrilled to have Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott back on our screens, tackling a fresh case?

Fans will be pleased to hear that Tom Burke (War and Peace; Great Expectations) and Holliday Grainger (The Capture) will reprise their roles as the lead duo, alongside a bunch of new names too.

In case you didn't know, the pacy detective series is based on JK Rowling's Strike books, which she writes under the pen name Robert Galbraith.

If you need a recap, Cormoran Strike is a private detective and war veteran who lost his leg while serving in Afghanistan.

Like the best sleuths, he's a complicated guy. As well as overcoming financial difficulties and business failures, Strike is navigating a difficult relationship with his ageing rocker dad.

At one time, it seemed his career had slumped, but now he's landing high profile cases and is held in high esteem.

Robin, meanwhile, is Strike's assistant-turned-colleague - and there's plenty of will-they-won't-they chemistry between the dynamic duo.

Formerly a temp, Robin is now working as a detective in her own right.

Last season's finale saw her marry her jealous and selfish long-term boyfriend Matthew Cunliffe - who is insecure about her relationship with Strike.

Elsewhere in the cast list are Kerr Logan, Natasha O'Keeffe, Joseph Quinn, Nick Blood, Robert Glenister, Sophie Winkleman and Adam Long.

We can't wait for this one!

You can catch Strike: Lethal White on Sunday 30th August 2020 on BBC One.
