'Love Island Australia' Is Coming To ITV2 This Month

PSA: ITV2 has announced that the first series of Love Island: Australia will be broadcast on the channel this summer.

The news will be welcomed by anyone mourning the absence of British Love Island - which was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis - from this summer's programming.

Kicking off later this month and airing nightly on ITV2, the Aussie version of the UK's much-loved dating show is hosted by Sophie Monk and narrated by Eoghan McDermott.

We've yet to find out if Eoghan's narration lives up to Iain Stirling's witticisms (let's be honest, that's a tall order) but regardless, the series should deliver on the sun, sass and escapism that we've come to expect from the hit show.

Much like its British cousin, the series sees a bunch of hopeful Aussie singles jet off on the ultimate summer of love, leaving the Australian winter behind them, as they set up home in a seriously plush villa in Mallorca.

As the channel says: "Playing the definitive game of love, the Aussie Islanders will get to know each other in the hope of finding romance.

"But as new bombshells arrive on the Island, which couples will stand the test of time and make it all the way to the final, and have a chance of bagging the $50,000 cash prize?"

ITV2's promo for the new series lands us straight in the sun-kissed villa as the singles begin their search for romance. Cue sizzling entrances and a whole lot of flirtation.

"Bring on the bombshells, the bromances and a little bit of 'naughty naughty'!" teases the narration.

"It's the Love Island you love, just with a different accent. Bring it on!"

For those of us with a Love Island shaped hole in our lives, and the UK show not set to return to our screens until 2021, the Aussie equivalent can't come soon enough.

Love Island Australia starts later this month and airs nightly on ITV2.
