It's almost Halloween, and we've got some exciting spooky news.

Insidious 5 has officially been confirmed and the original cast will be returning!

Ty Simpkins will return as Dalton (

The news was announced on Thursday, at studio Blumhouse's BlumFest event. Blumhouse (which produce the franchise) revealed the sequel will take place a decade on from the second insidious movie, which was released in 2013.

Patrick Wilson will make his directorial debut, as well as starring in the movie (as Josh Lambert). Meanwhile, Ty Simpkins (who plays Josh's son, Dalton Lambert) will also return.

But what will it be about?!

Well, it picks up with the Lambert family 10 years on, and Dalton is just about to start college. Of course, there'll be some sort of sinister twist - and we can't wait to hear more about the plot.

Speaking about the movie, Patrick said: "I'm honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious instalment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices.

"Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted in continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into the further we go."

Meanwhile, Jason Blum (who is producing for Blumhouse) said: "One of the primary reasons the interest and appetite from fans has lasted for Insidious is because the people involved in the first film have stayed involved and kept it vital, interesting and good.

"I'm so grateful to our collaborators on the franchise."

Rose Byrne also starred in the movies (

Insidious fans will know that both Patrick and Ty starred in the first two movies alongside Rose Byrne who played Dalton's mum, Renai Lambert.

The first two films followed the Lamberts as they tried to free their family of the evil demons first possessing Dalton and later Josh.

It's not currently clear whether Rose will be reprising her role as Renai, but we've got everything crossed she will - it just won't be the same without her!

As the film has only just been announced, it's expected to be a while before we hear about a release date, but we'll keep you in the loop. More to follow...
