Guys, dig out your cork hats - we could very well be heading back to Australia after all for this year's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

The (usually) jungle-based reality show was forced to relocate to Gwrych Castle in North Wales last year, after the ongoing coronavirus pandemic forced Australia to entirely close its borders.

But according to sources, ITV has since gained the relevant clearances to film on the Gold Coast once more, at its usual location in Murwillumbah, New South Wales.

And now, ITV producers are thought to be reaching out to this year's potential campmates and informing them that a flight to Australia later on in the year may be on the cards.

"Everyone is delighted with this news," a border force insider told The Sun. "All the signs are now pointing towards a return to the jungle.

"As great as a year in the castle was, the show is made by its surroundings and the glitz and glamour of the jungle.

"ITV have assurances from Australian border control bosses that even if a wider travel ban is still in place for tourists, they'll get the paperwork and clearance they need to send cast and crew to Oz. It's a big moment."

Despite the sudden change in location, I'm a Celebrity... proved as popular as ever last year, peaking at 10 million viewers and seeing eventual winner Giovanna Fletcher, 36, being crowned the show's first ever Queen of the Castle.

We previously told you how ITV was once again eyeing up the castle, after Australia's budget plan revealed that the country intends to keep international travel "low until mid 2022, after which a gradual recovery in tourism is assumed to occur."

When approached by Tyla for comment, an ITV spokesperson said: "No final decision has yet been made regarding the location for the new series."
