Though we can hardly believe it's been 17 years since the release of Noughties film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, it seems a sequel to this iconic film might be on the way soon - and this is news we didn't know we needed!

Kate Hudson, who played journalist Andie Anderson in the classic rom-com, revealed she'd love to revisit her character in the film - alongside co-star Matthew McConaughey and that love fern, of course.

She told Elle: "I've always thought about what Matthew and I's characters would be now, if we were still together.

"It's actually probably a good amount of time [that has passed] to make a movie about it. We probably would have gotten married with kids. We're probably miserable right now!"

We really hope a sequel happens, Kate!

The actress also revealed that she loved her time making How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days and called it a "special time" in her life.

"It was a very different time of making movies. People like me and Matthew, I feel like we were the last class of actors that really experienced the old school Hollywood process of making movies. It was a special time."

Last month, Kate teased fans with a hilarious throwback clip to the film on her Instagram.

She captioned the post: "Heard it was #TakeYourPlantForAWalkDay So, clearly I thought of one of my favorite co-stars... #TheLoveFern."

Matthew, who played advertising executive Benjamin Barry in the movie, commented: "Hate to see you leave, but love to watch you go." And, come on guys, make a sequel happen!

The rom-com, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, was out in 2003 and followed journalist Andie and Benjamin as they tricked each other into having a relationship.

While Andie is tasked with writing an article on how to lose a guy in 10 days, Benjamin in challenged by his co-workers to make a woman fall in love with him.

In the original film, viewers were treated to plenty of hilarious and chaotic encounters as Andie tried to get Benjamin to break up with her, while his goal was to keep the relationship going - and we can only hope a sequel will follow suit.

Meanwhile, if you're looking to watch the 2003 classic, the original film is now streaming on Netflix now.
