This Morning could have been massively different to the chat show we all know and love, as Holly Willoughby revealed she almost turned down the opportunity to present with Philip Schofield because of Simon Cowell.

Back when Ferne Britton stepped down from This Morning after 10 years, Phil could only think of one person to have by his side, Holly.

In 2009 before she joined the show, Holly was hosting Dancing on Ice as well as Xtra Factor with Simon, Louis Walsh, Cheryl and Dannii Minogue.

And during a tribute show to celebrate 30 years of This Morning, Holly revealed that music mogul Simon actually tried to warn her against presenting the show.

Speaking on This Morning - 30 Unforgettable Years, Phil recalled: "I said, 'I'm not doing it with anyone else', it has to be you or I'm not doing it anymore."

Holly added: "And I have you to thank for that. If it wasn't for you, there's no doubt I wouldn't be doing this.

"I was doing Xtra Factor and I remember it got to the point where I had to let Simon know that I was coming to do This Morning. And he said, 'I think that will be a really big mistake'."

Clearly stunned by Holly's revelation, Phil exclaimed: "No way!" before Holly confirmed: "Yes, he did. Got that wrong!"

While Holly didn't reveal why Simon suggested not fronting This Morning, she thankfully did not follow his advice.

Holly and Phil have become known for their uncontrollable laughter and rude innuendos, which all makes for some hilarious telly with thousands of viewers tuning in to watch.

The duo have been presenting the show for almost a decade together now, and fans wouldn't have it any other way.

This Morning continues on ITV on weekdays at 10.30am.
