Hilary Duff *Finally* Addresses Major Plot Hole In A Cinderella Story

A Cinderella Story is one of our favourite childhood films - but that's not to say we're totally blind to its faults.

How on earth was Austin so easily fooled at the Halloween dance? Surely he could have seen it was Sam behind that *miniscule* masquerade mask? Especially as just hours before, he was with his gang of meathead friends at her family diner?

It's something that's bothered us for years - and now, Hillary Duff herself has weighed in on the plot hole.

"That is so funny," the 33-year-old told Cosmopolitan. "Maybe he got hit in the head too many times during football?

"It was pretty recognisably me, right? I don't even know if that was even a question [that came up] on set! That is so good. I don't know what to say about that. There was definitely a problem with the script there."

For those of you who haven't watched A Cinderella Story (it's on Netflix), the 2004 fairytale romance saw 'diner girl' Sam start a secret chat room romance with Nomad - who turns out to be the star quarter back, Austin, from North Valley High School.

After meeting at the school's Halloween Dance, in which Sam dresses up as Cinderella with her evidently confounding mask disguise, Austin is determined to find the true identity of his princess.

Duff, who is now expecting her third child, also called out Sam's costume for the Halloween ball.

The teenager is helped out by restaurant manager Rhonda (played by Regina King) when she needs to quickly sort an outfit, with Rhonda lending Sam her huge, flouncy wedding dress. Austin, naturally, dressed as Prince Charming.

"Cinderella did NOT wear a wedding dress," joked Duff. "That was fully a wedding dress. Where did she get that thing?!"

Plot holes or not, we still love A Cinderella Story!
