High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special has officially dropped a trailer, and it's literally put us in the Christmas spirit.

Yep, the fun loving teen show might have a ridiculously long name, but don't let that deter you. It's an all singing, all dancing festive celebration, and we're all invited.

Starring Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders as themselves, rather than their characters from the show, the Disney+ special will see the group sing 45 minutes worth of performances of their favourite festive songs.

We'll see the cast attempt to drive up some holiday spirit performing their renditions of a mix of Christmas classics, new hits and Hanukkah and New Years songs.

The group will also look back on their childhood Yuletide memories, talk about their best, worst and most embarrassing presents and chat about family traditions.

As you can see in the trailer, Bassett will also perform his Season 2 song, 'The Perfect Gift'.

Also in the holiday special, we can expect to hear 'This Christmas (Hang All the Mistletoe)', performed by Sofia Wylie and 'Feliz Navidad', performed by Frankie Rodriguez and Joe Serafini.

Plus, Julia Lester will also be singing 'The Hunukkah Medley', while Matt Cornett takes on 'Last Christmas'.

This is just the kind of cheesy festive cheer we need RN. And as if that wasn't enough, fans will also get a sneak peak at Season 2 of the hit Disney show.

Tim Federle, executive producer and director of the special, said: "The holidays remind us of the universal importance of family and loved ones.

"The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is its own kind of family, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share their favourite holiday music and traditions with our viewers."

Just in case the title of the show wasn't long enough, you can buy or stream High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special: The Soundtrack from Friday on all major music platforms, and get a sneak peak of all the music ahead of the show airing.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special will then premiere on December 11th on Disney+.

The special follows on from the new TV series, which landed on Disney+ in November last year.

Described as "not a reboot, not a sequel" to the original High School Musical movie (2006) but instead "the start of something new", the mockumentary is set in a fictionalised version of East High School, where a drama teacher decides to stage a musical to celebrate the school's affiliation with the original film.

It sees a whole new cast are auditioning to play the parts of Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, and Sharpay Evans in a NEW musical. Yes, it's all very meta.
