Enjoying a TV series doesn't mean it can't have a social message we all need to hear. Case in point: Pose. The Golden Globe-winning drama finally arrived on the BBC for UK audiences last month and there are some very big reasons why it's more than just a good watch.
This drama, which premiered in the UK on BBC2 last month, is a ground-breaking US series about the underground world of 1980s ball culture and drag culture, set at the height of the AIDS epidemic.

The eight-part drama, from Glee creator Ryan Murphy and American Horror Story's Brad Falchuk, hit screens in the US back in June 2018 to critical acclaim.
Set in 1978 in New York, it explores underground ball culture and New York society.
Pose follows the story of Blanca Rodriguez, a nail technician who's a regular at the House of Abundance - a safe space for "outsiders" who steal gowns from the Brooklyn Museum and go to their balls in drag.

After receiving a HIV diagnosis, Blanca is determined to open her own house and takes 17-year-old Damon under her wing.
Pose boasts the largest cast of transgender actors ever working on a single project and nearly everybody involved in production is LGBTQ+ too.
At last year's US, Ryan Murphy announced that all his profits from the series would be donated to charitable organisations that work with LGBTQ+ people.
The transgender cast includes Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross, who co-star alongside Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, Tony award-winner Billy Porter, Charlayne Woodard, and newcomers Ryan Jamaal Swain, Dyllón Burnside and Angel Bismark Curiel.

The Guardian gave it a five-star review, the Financial Times called it "thoroughly fabulous" and GQ claim it's "Ryan Murphy's best show by miles."
A second series is coming sometime this year so new fans will have just enough time to catch up before having a new set of episodes to binge.
