The reboot of witchey cult classic Charmed kicked off in the UK on Tuesday, 9th January - but news of the new series wasn't received well by everyone in the original cast.

In fact, one former cast member slammed the show and the lack of input from the original cast and crew.

"Don't even think of capitalizing on our hard work," Holly Marie Combs (who played Piper Halliwell on the CW show) wrote on Twitter when the reboot was first announced.

"Charmed belongs to the four of us [the original cast], our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans."

Combs also pointed to the network's description of a 'feminist' reboot, which she felt implied the original series was not. "Guess we forgot to do that the first go around. Hmph," she tweeted.

Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell) was also upset by the network's 'feminist' wording to describe the reboot. "Their wording is terrible and a bit offensive," she told a fan on Twitter. "But, everyone makes mistakes. Perhaps with the backlash they will be more thoughtful in future."

Overall, though, she was supportive of the reboot idea, tweeting: "Charmed was a wonderful empowering show for women. I'm proud I started a show that has stood the test of time with such loyal fans.

"It's a testament to the original that a new one is even being considered. I'm actually curious about their plans for it. And no, it won't be the same but nothing is."

Alyssa Milano (who played Phoebe Halliwell) was unsure if it was the right time for a reboot, saying: "The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close."

But cast member Rose McGowan (who played Paige Matthews) was firmly behind the plan, tweeting: "I wish everyone the best. I have zero reboot issues. Fly, girls, fly."
