When the fourth episode of Game of Thrones season eight dropped on Sunday night, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a detail that seemed out of place for the setting and time.
During the banquet scene, right in front of Daenerys on the table, was a rogue coffee cup in the middle of all the medieval-style metal cups.

It's a small detail, sure, but some viewers noticed the paper cup immediately and took to Twitter to laugh about it.
Now, HBO have responded in the best possible style - taking it in their stride and tweeting: "The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."

The cup popped up when everyone was trying to enjoy a feast after killing the night king. They were all celebrating with tankards of wine and other appropriate beverages, other than the Mother of Dragons who appeared to be enjoying herself a Pumpkin Spice latte.

Many people were amused by the error, taking to Twitter to make memes and joke about it. Others pointed out just how many people will have had to miss it in order for the mistake to happen - not only the offending coffee drinker, but everyone else on set, the crew, and the people editing the footage.
Speaking to Variety, art director Hauke Richter said that this sort of thing happens "all the time", but people just kicked off because it's Game of Thrones and we expect a certain level of commitment to the whole vibe of the show.

While this mistake certainly took the tension out of a thus-far pretty stressful season of Game of Thrones, we're still excited to see how it pans out - coffee cups and all.
