Game of Thrones fans all over the world are finally getting their first teaser of what the final season has in store as HBO has finally dropped a teaser trailer for season eight.

The 60-second clip was first unveiled at the São Paulo's Comic Con and it's enough to get anyone in the mood for a dark, icy winter.

It shows a sweeping map of Westeros complete with a statute of a wolf being taken over by snow. Then ice meets fire as a statute of a lion is engulfed in flames in the middle...

The clip doesn't give too much away, but many GoT fans fans believe it could be nod to an infamous war that we know will go down in the final new series. The family motifs mean that the wolf represents Jon Snow and his fight against the lion, Cersei Lannister.

We already know Jon will face an epic hour-long battle with the Night King in episode three, which could explain the ice swallowing the wolf in the brand new teaser trailer.

The fire over the lion could also be interpreted as Daenerys Targaryen and her remaining two dragons taking on Cersei for the Iron Throne.

While it's all a bit up in the air over what to expect in the new season at the moment, HBO has given us that little something towards getting over a long, dark year of living without any new episodes.

In the previous season, which let's face it feels like so long ago, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen decided to join forces to defeat the White Walkers. Plus they embarked on a long awaited and very steamy sex scene, unaware that they were, in fact, related.

Cersei Lannister is still determined to carry on reigning over the Seven Kingdoms, despite threats from the star-crossed lovers.

It has been a long, long 2018 for GoT fans but the teaser trailer revealed season eight will be broadcast on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in April 2019.
