The terrifying series The Haunting of Hill House, was a creepy but brilliant re-make, that landed on Netflix in 2018 and received rave reviews.

And if you were a big fan, the good news is there's set to be a second season in 2020, called The Haunting of Bly Manor, news that was confirmed last year.

But what will it be about? Will the Crain family return to Hill House?

What happened in Season 1 of The Haunting of Hill House?

First, let's go back to the start. The first season, was an adaption loosely based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel of the same name, which centred around the Crain family, who moved into a run down mansion. How all good scary shows start.

Parents Hugh and Olivia's plans are to restore the home, in the hopes of selling it on and making a big profit, but it's not that simple.

It turns out, the house is haunted and terrible things keep happening to the family.

As supernatural happenings start to escalate, one of the family members ends up dead. The series then skips forward 26 years where the Crains reunite and end up discussing the impact the time spent in Hill House had on them.

Being set in a haunted house is a classic way to begin a horror movie, but The 'Haunting of Hill House' received rave reviews. (

It was actually so raved about that Stephen King called it "close to the work of genius" on Twitter and according to research acquired by Business Insider, it was the third most in-demand horror show and those stats were revealed within a week of its debut.

What will Haunting of Hill House Season 2 be about?

In February 2019, Netflix announced a second season had been secured, which is to be called The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The streaming service wrote on Twitter: The programme's official Twitter account shared: "A new Haunting is coming. Can you guess where it takes place? Listen closely..."

It followed it with: "You guessed it. The HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, a new chapter in the Haunting series based on the works of Henry James, is coming in 2020."

The new season will have no connection to the first, with new characters, a new storyline and a brand new creepy house, based on Henry James' 'The Turn of the Screw'.

It's an old novella horror from 1898 and the story centres around a governess who is sent to look after two children Flora and Miles, in a country house in Essex, Bly Manor.

The governess begins to notice strange figures creeping around the property, which nobody else seems to be able to see.

Creator Mike Flanagan told Birth.Movies.Death that: "It's a cool way to expand on some of the things I loved about season one, but within the framework of a new story, without having to be restrained by the decisions we made last time."

Will any actors from Hill House feature in Bly Manor?

Just because the Crain family aren't starring, doesn't mean the actors who played them aren't.

Season 1's Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, Catherine Parker, Kate Siegel and Oliver Jackson-Cohen are all set to return.

Victoria will play the governess, Dani, and Oliver will play Peter who lives near to the manor house.

Which new actors have been confirmed for The Haunting of Bly House?

Rahul Kohli, T'Nia Miller, Amelia Eve, Benjamin Ainsworth and Amelie Smith are set to join the cast. And while Rahul, T'Nia and Amelia's role are currently secret, Benjamin will play Miles and Amelia will play Flora, central characters from the book.

When Will The Haunting of Bly House air?

Mike Flanagan, told The Wrap that the show will likely land around Halloween in 2020.

He said: "I don't know the date but [...] It's probably Halloween again, if I had to guess."

To be fair, if you're going to release a creepy new series, what better time to do so?
