It's been nearly impossible to avoid the buzz around Hamilton.
Theatre fan or not, the stage musical - filled with catchy raps and even pop music references - has dominated conversation ever since it premiered in February 2015, sweeping up at award season with Tony, Grammy, Olivier and Pulitzer Prize wins ever since.
A filmed version of the Broadway show was planned for release in cinemas in October 2021, but given the show is currently on pause during the coronavirus pandemic, Disney has decided to fast-track its arrival.

"In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful," Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger said in a statement.
The film will combine footage of the live theatre show (from a recording of the show in 2016) with filmed segments.
Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is a rap musical which tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, with African-American and Latino actors playing his fellow founding fathers.
The stage musical stars Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, and Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson.

This will be welcome news to anybody who was trying to get a ticket to the theatre production in the West End before the pandemic, as it has been infamously hard to do so, and they didn't come cheap.
