If you watched Great British Bake Off last night, you'll know it was a pretty tense episode, with just four contestants left to battle it out for a place in next week's final.

But fans were distraught at the end of the show when Hermine was sent home, despite having been crowned star baker twice this series.

Instead, bakers Peter, Dave and Laura all made it through to the final next week.

Viewers flooded Twitter with comments about the decision, with many saying Hermine was "robbed" of her place in the final.

One wrote: "Wrong decision. Laura has made so many mistakes she should have gone this week. Hermine didn't deserve to go."

While another tweeted: "Hermine's beautiful bakes were ignored. A massively wrong decision. The show has lost its lovely, innocent sparkle."

And one added: "Gutted for #Hermine, who was the best consistent baker, star baker etc..bad choice to let her go out of the final."

Last night saw Hermine struggle with the technical challenge - which required the bakers to create a Danish cornucopia cake - as well as the showstopper.

Speaking about her departure, Hermine said: "It should have been my finest hour on patisserie week as that is my forte, but it was not to be, it was heart breaking to leave at the semi-final.

"For me it wasn't about winning or getting star baker, I was more thrilled about getting positive comments from the judges, these are the things that made my experience in the tent magical.

"I bake from the heart and I want people to enjoy my food rather than taking the accolades. It's been a pleasure, I believe everything has a reason and it was the right time for me to go."

We were so gutted to see Hermine go last night, Bake Off just won't be the same without her!
