Last night saw Rahul crowned as the winner of this year's Great British Bake Off, and it was an emotional time for everyone.

After weeks of watching the bakers create their masterpieces in the Bake Off tent, it can be easy to forget that they have lives outside the competition.

However, last night Channel 4 decided to treat viewers to a little sneak peek at the finalists', Rahul, Ruby and Kim-Joy's back stories.

Viewers were left in tears when Bake Off champion was seen relaxing at home with his friends, David and Liz, who took him under their wing when he first moved to England.

"Rahul arrived in England on his own eight years ago," the GBBO Twitter account wrote. "He had no family or friends in the country. David and Liz took him under their wing.

"The kindness of strangers can go a long way to making a huge difference. #GBBOFinal."

As if fans hadn't already taken to Rahul enough, many were left in tears after learning of his backstory when he moved to the UK.

"Just going to spend the rest of the night weeping about how lovely Rahul's friend David is and trying to connect with him on LindkedIn so he can endorse my life," one emotional viewer tweeted.

"Catching up on #GBBO & already in tears at David and Liz saying how their lives would be poorer if they hadn't met Rahul - this series has been the NICEST in years," another added.

Meanwhile, Ruby's mum hit us all in the feels when she gave her heartwarming tribute to her daughter.

Even she was left in tears as she told viewers: "I will be the proudest mum in the world to see my daughter winning the Bake Off."

"Hands up if you just want to give Ruby's mum a massive hug," one viewer wrote.

Viewers also got to see Kim-Joy as she relaxed at home with her partner and friends, prompting fans to say they didn't think they could 'love her anymore.'

"You know that if you're at @kimjoyskitchen's board games club that the snacks will be EPIC for those long complicated campaigns," another fan added.
