New GBBO Footage Of Ruby's Collapsing Cake Arouses Suspicions

"Why were they all watching outside? Do cameras normally keep running? Why was Ruby with Noel and Sandi? This feels quite weird."

Great British Bake Off fans had a lot of questions during vegan week, after Ruby Bhogal's showstopper was captured collapsing on camera as the bakers left the tent.

It all came crashing down for Ruby when the top tier of the beautifully decorated lemon and coconut cake slipped off just moments after the challenge ended.

Ruby and her fellow bakers could be seen watching outside of the tent and gasping in horror as the events unfolded, with Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig quickly comforting her over the cake catastrophe.

However, GBBO fans were sceptical over the scenes, with some pointing out that viewers almost never see the bakers leaving the tent and others sharing their thoughts on the 'perfectly timed' filming.

"Can we talk about that weird Bake Off scene for a second? We never see them after a challenge has ended, we only see them during the judging. Why were they all watching outside? Do cameras normally keep running? Why was Ruby with Noel and Sandi? This feels quite weird. ," posted one person on Twitter.

And another mused: "Noo Ruby! Do they normally leave the tent? Very convenient /excellent camera shot with the bakers in the background."

"That falling cake scene felt very staged! When have the cameras ever filmed the bakers leaving the tent & followed them in to the field? #GBBO," echoed a third person.

While plenty of viewers doubted the scenes, other fans were quick to clear things up, including GBBO series four baker, Chetna Makan and series five star Luis Troyano.

"Oh no we do see them sometimes in the background because that's where they go and wait while the tent is being cleaned!" explained Chetna.

With Luis confirming: "Yes normal place to hang out straight after challenges."

Ruby's cake wasn't the only vegan bake that didn't stand a chance either, as Rahul Mandal's showstopper collapsed in on itself too, meaning he fell from the judges' ranks.

Despite Ruby and Rahul's mess, it was Jon Jenkins who had to leave the tent at the end of the episode, after failing to impress with his vegan tarts and Bet Lynch-inspired showstopper.
