Gavin & Stacey's Larry Lamb and Melanie Walters who previously starred in the popular comedy set in Barry Island and Essex will be reunited in Pitching In, a new BBC One drama hitting screens in spring.

The pair previously played Gavin's dad, Michael Shipman and Stacey's mum, Gwen West. The new BBC One drama is also focussed on family affairs and is centred around the story of three generations of the same family in a caravan park on the north Wales coast.

The cast also includes Hayley Mills, Caroline Sheen and Ifan Huw Dafydd.

Larry told the BBC: "Eleven years after Gavin and Stacey burst onto the scene I'm heading out west again, switching Barry Island for Anglesey this time.

"I'm delighted to be playing the role of Frank in Pitching In - it's a touching, funny and romantic story and a fascinating glimpse of life on the north Wales coast."

With a glimpse into life on the beautiful coastline of North Wales it tells the story of three generations of the same family, all struggling to make the best of a very unusual set up on the edge of the Irish sea with a focus on family, friendship and community.

Lamb takes the lead role as Frank, the owner of the caravan par who is struggling to deal with the loss of his wife. But for the moment it has not been announced which character Walters will play.

Speaking to the Daily Post Larry revealed that the show is as far removed from BBC show Gavin and Stacey as you can get: ""Gavin and Stacey was set in the far suburbs of London - it was just filmed in Wales in Barry - while Pitching In is all about life on a leisure park in Anglesey.

"I play Frank, the fella that runs it, and I'm having a terrible time because of what's happened in the past. He's not dealing well with being a widower.

"It's set at the side of the sea and it's all about what goes on there with the family that run it and the people that work and live there.

"There's an interesting cast of people. Hayley Mills has come in to play a rather manipulating business woman and an old colleague of mine, Melanie Walters that was in Gavin and Stacey with me."

Pitching In will air on BBC One in spring with an exact date to be confirmed.
