The most hated Friends episode has been revealed, as voted by fans of the show.

The One With The Invitation (season 4, episode 21) officially has the lowest rating out of all the sitcom's 236 episodes according to IMDB - and it will come as no surprise that it features Ross's ex wife Emily Waltham.

Let us take you on a trip down memory lane and remind you what went down...

The episode centres around the moment Rachel (played by Jennifer Aniston) is sent an invitation to Ross and Emily's wedding - much to his fiancé's fury.

Ross (David Schwimmer) originally wasn't going to invite to his ex-girlfriend to the London nuptials, and Rachel felt mutually unenthusiastic about it, dreading the prospect of seeing him tie the knot with someone else.

But Ross eventually decides he can't leave Rachel out from his big day (queue a *hell* of a lot of flashbacks from Ross and Rachel's love story, as the pair both ponder what is the best thing to do...)

It's not hard to work out why people didn't love this episode, which was rated just 7.2 on IMDB - shy of the 8.5 average across all nine seasons.

Fans became incredibly invested in Ross and Rachel ahead of his marriage to Emily (played by Helen Baxendale), so, the thought of drawing a line under their romance once and for all was likely not appealing to many.

That being said, viewers need not have worried, seeing as Ross went on to say Rachel's name at the alter - a move which spells the beginning of the end for the pair, and ultimately hints that he loves his best friend more than anyone else.

You'll remember that the end of Friends also sees Rachel getting off the plane, deciding to settle down with Ross rather than pursue a career in Paris.

So, it's safe to say an invitation to Ross' wedding to Emily wasn't the biggest issue on Rachel's plate, after all.
