After 14 years Friends will finally be making a comeback to UK television screens and will be aired twice a day on Channel 5.

According the The Radio Times, the iconic show that featured around the lives of six New York City residents and defined the last 1990s and early 2000s will be appearing on our screens from the 3rd September with an episode being aired at 4pm and 4.30pm.

This will be the first time we've seen Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe on 'terrestrial' TV in the UK since 2015 when Channel 5 aired five hours of the show back to back to mark the shows 21st anniversary.

Although they aren't new episodes that we have all been waiting for and there are only two episodes a day this still gives us the perfect excuse to get home from work and relive our favourite episodes- without having to pay.

Friends originally ran on Channel 4 for its original 10-year run and the shows finale attracted an audience of 8.6 million, E4 then aired repeats before the show moved to Comedy Central.

All 236 episodes of the American sitcom were added to Netflix in February which led to a resurge in popularity for the show as it became the most streamed TV show in the UK according to Ofcom.

The rise in popularity meant that there was a whole new generation of fans and high street shops started stocking Friends themed homeware.

I mean who wouldn't want a set of Friends bedding?

Jennifer Aniston spoke earlier this month to InStyle about a reunion: "'Before that show ended, people were asking if we were coming back. Courteney and Lisa and I talk about it.

"I fantasise about it. It really was the greatest job I ever had,' she said. 'I don't know what it would look like today, but you never know.

"So many shows are being successfully rebooted. I know Matt LeBlanc doesn't want to be asked that question anymore.

"But maybe we could talk him into it. 'Or we just give it some time and then Lisa, Courteney, and I could reboot The Golden Girls and spend our last years together on wicker furniture."
