Love Island is returning for a seventh series in a matter of days and we can't wait to meet all of the new Islanders!

After two series were called off in 2020 due to the pandemic, the words "I got a text!" will be music to our ears, and watching hot singles getting their "heads turned" by the pool in that stunning Majorca villa is just the escapism we need.

Tyla has contacted ITV2 for the official start date and cast, but the TV network is keeping a tight lid on it so far.

Here's everything we know so far.

With the first show airing in June 2015, Love Island has been a real success story for ITV. In 2019, it broke a ratings record with 6 million viewers tuning in, according to the BBC.

In 2018, Love Island: Australia hit the TV screens, with contestants flying half-way across the world to stay in the same Majorca villa UK Islanders were in. The second season of Love Island Australia was filmed a bit closer to home - in the beautiful Fiji.

Love Island: America followed in July 2019 and was filmed in Las Vegas. And in February 2021, Love Island: South Africa made its debut.

But neither shows have been as popular as the original UK Love Island - it is what it is I suppose.

Love Island teaser trailers

Since May bank holiday weekend, ITV2, as well as the show's hosts Laura Whitmore and Iain Sterling, have been teasing fans with trailers of the upcoming Love Island series.

Take a look in the video player below:

Love Island 2021 start date

The fan site Love Island Reactions has predicted it will start on Monday 28th June at 9pm which, if true, means we only have a couple of weeks to wait.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but a source told MailOnline: "Crew members are scheduled to fly to Majorca on 20th June - with the series expected to launch a week later.

"In 2019, the first episode aired on 3rd June, meaning Love Island will be over three weeks later this year due to current restrictions on overseas travel."

The show usually lasts for eight weeks, with episodes airing every weeknight for one hour. There's also Love Island: Aftersun on Sundays to keep us fed with the week's juiciest island gossip.

Love Island filming location confirmed

This year's Love Island will be filmed as usual in Majorca, meaning The Villa and Casa Amor will be welcoming the hot singles once again.

The UK's travel restrictions were eased on 17th May, meaning the cast and crew will be able to legally travel. Spain and the Balearics are currently sat on the amber list, so any cast and crew members will need to self-isolate when they arrive back in the UK. But the main thing is it's going ahead fellow Islanders, and we cannot wait!

Just in case you need a reminder, here are some snapshots of that stunning Love Island villa.

Set up in the mountains of the Spanish island, there is plenty of space for contestants to fall in (and out) of love.

And we can imagine the outside seating area will be a place where plenty of drama happens this summer. Look at those comfy beanbags - perfect for pulling somebody for a chat.

Where is the Love Island UK villa located?

If a change in circumstances with COVID-19 prevents Love Island from going ahead in Majorca, a UK alternative location has been discussed

A source told Chronicle Live: "The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can't get back to Spain." Granted, that's a beautiful location - it might be a bit chilly for bikinis though.

"Either way we're going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they're desperate to have it back. They're going to love what we do, wherever we do it."

Who is hosting Love Island 2021?

Laura Whitmore, who became a mum in April, is hosting the show once again. And it wouldn't be Love Island without Iain Sterling's commentary, cracking the jokes as the Islanders "crack on" with each other.
