Firefly Lane fans, we've got some good news for you - Netflix has renewed the heart-warming drama for a second series.

Based on the novel by Kristin Hannah, Firefly Lane told the story of two very different best friends - bold and brash Tully and the shy and retiring Kate.

After meeting as teenagers, the 10 part series follows the pair over 30 tumultuous years, with their friendship being tested on multiple occasions. However, their bond always remains strong, until the pair are faced with the ultimate challenge.

Starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, Firefly Lane was hugely popular with viewers, racing to the very top of the Netflix charts in several countries. Some viewers even admitted to bingeing the series in just one day.

And now, the news of the second series will finally reveal just what happened between the Tully and Kate, as the final episode revealed the pair were no longer talking.

Both Katherine and Sarah announced the arrival of a new series in a video for Netflix, where they answered questions from fans.

Replying to a question about the pair's friendship, Sarah explained: "This issue between Tully and Kate...we can't say much but we can say it's family related."

She also dispelled a popular fan theory that Johnny (played by Ben Lawson) was involved, as Sarah added: "It has nothing to do with him."

Katherine said: "Everywhere I go, people are asking me if there's going to be a Season 2. And guys...yes."

After doing a virtual cheers, Sarah continued: "We don't have all the answers yet, but trust us, it is going to be worth the wait.

"And, all of your questions will be answered! We can't wait to go on this journey of Tully and Kate with all of you."

Katherine then thanked fans of the show for their continued support and passion for the series.

While a second series has been announced, we may have quite some time await before it lands on screens.

A release date is yet to be confirmed, though it's likely we could be seeing the show at some point in 2022.

For now, you can rebinge the first series of Firefly Lane on Netflix.
