If you're looking for something brand new and exciting to watch for your lockdown evenings in (and let's face it, there's only so much Married At First Sight Australia to obsess over) then Netflix has got you covered.

The streaming platform has just launched the first season of Firefly Lane, and fans are lapping it up.

Watch the trailer below.

The ten-part drama, based on Kristin Hannah's novel of the same name, follows the friendship between best friends from their teens to their 40s. The pals are an odd yet complementary couple, with the bold and brash Tully (Katherine Heigl) and the shy and nerdier Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke).

While the series is fairly lengthy, fans are becoming so hooked on Tully and Kate's ups and downs that they have sat through the entire series in one sitting - and cannot wait to see if there's a season two.

"I made the mistake of watching Firefly Lane at bedtime, now I'm three episodes in and I can't turn it off. Well done ladies," a second added.

"Binge watched Firefly Lane, such a good show," a third said.

While a fourth added: "My binge watch of Firefly Lane had me laughing, crying and dreaming of these best friends. Thank you for these complicated, broken, human, heartbreaking, hilarious and beautiful characters."

And this person had no regrets, writing: "I stayed up until 3am binge watching Firefly Lane. And I'm up watching it again."

Fans are longing for a second season (

A second season is yet to be confirmed by Netflix, and yet people are already longing to see what happens next for Tully and Kate.

"Going to need Firefly Lane season two asap!" one wrote on Twitter. "The ending makes me stand on my toes!"

"I'm so upset I'm going to have to wait a year to see what happens next on Firefly Lane!" a second said.

"Where is season two?" a third demanded.

Others were thrilled to see Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl back on screen once more.

"I'm in loooveee with Katherine Heigl's portrayal of her character. It's so broken, yet real," commented one fan, while another said: "Finished watching Firefly Lane over the weekend and all I have to say is, Katherine Heigl is phenomenally good in it."

Pass the popcorn, we've got some bingeing to do...
