Last night's Love Island saw another dramatic recoupling, and after Amber Gill chose her friend Ovie Soko to be her new partner, fans are desperate for the pair to win the show as the first non-romantic couple.

Amber's former partner Michael Griffiths, 27, dumped her for new girl Joanna Chimonides while Ovie's partner Anna Vakili officially dumped him for Jordan Hames, leaving fans worried the two friends were vulnerable to being kicked off.

But when beauty therapist Amber, 21, recoupled with 28-year-old basketball pro Ovie last night, they secured their place in the villa - and the whole nation was over the moon.

In a heartwarming speech, Amber called Ovie "the funniest person I've ever met" and thanked him for being "like a big brother" in what has been her most difficult week yet.

It's led leading to a series of fan tweets calling for the pair to be the "first non romantic couple to win" and declaring them the "two best people in the villa".

Others said they should win over current favourites Molly-Mae Hague, 19, and Tommy Fury, 20, saying "give them the 50k already".

Another fan wrote: "Hold up.. y'all Ovie and Amber don't have to be an actual couple to win. If they stay coupled up together, we can still vote them to win. They can be the first friendship couple to win.. LETS GOOO".

While another said they hoped romantic feelings would develop, writing: "Me watching amber and ovie couple up hoping that they catch feelings for each other".

Viewers not only loved Amber's speech, in which she said Ovie had been a great friend to her through a time of "turmoil", but also loved the dance Ovie did after he was picked.

We've seen friendship couplings turn to love before in the villa, so all we can do is hope that Ovie and Amber's friendship turns into something else in the two weeks of Love Island we have left.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
