Ever since Bridesmaids was first released in 2011, we've been holding out hope there would be a sequel.

And now, after Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig reunited on stage at this year's Oscars, fans are *begging* them to create a 'Bridesmaids 2'.

The iconic duo took to the stage at the 92nd Academy Awards this evening to present the Best Costume Design Oscar.

And fans have been going wild on Twitter ever since, with many begging the pair to "give the people what they want" and create a sequel to the epic film.

One tweeted: "Bridesmaids 2 needs to happen if it doesn't I will FREAKING RIOT!"

While another wrote: "We need a Bridesmaids 2!!!"

One mega fan said that while they wanted a 'Bridesmaids 2' they'd happily settle for another Maya and Kristen reunion.

"Bridesmaids 2 please! Or just Kristen and Maya 4eva," they wrote.

Another simply said: "Give the people what they want!!! Bridesmaids 2 gdi!!"

If you need a recap, the movie is the ultimate feel good comedy focusing on best mate duo Annie and Lillian who end up having a fall out after the latter gets engaged.

At the start of the film, it becomes clear that out-of-work Annie is not in a good place - not only has her lifelong dream of running a successful bakery failed, but her love life is in tatters.

Despite this, cash-strapped Annie puts on a brave face to be Lillian's Maid of Honour and does her best to get involved with the (often expensive) tasks this involves.

The role also sees Annie having to deal with Lillian's new pal and bridesmaid, Helen.

After a disastrous attempt at a hen do in Las Vegas - in which the party are escorted off the plane after Annie (who has been given sedatives and alcohol to calm her fear of flying) causes a scene mid-flight - Lillian officially hands over the planning to Helen.

We laughed, we cried and now we're *begging* for a sequel. Come on guys, make it happen.
