The makers of Netflix hit The Umbrella Academy have shared more exciting details about the upcoming second series of the American superhero drama.
The first season, released on 15th February 2019, received rave reviews from critics with Netflix reporting 45 million households had watched it during the first month alone.
An adaptation of the comic book series of the same name, the plot centred on a dysfunctional family of adopted siblings. The seven children are taken in by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves who turns them into a superhero squad, cared for by a nanny robot mother.

The show sees them become estranged but later reunite following the death of their father and an imminent apocalypse.
With the first series ending on a mega cliffhanger - where the gang heads back in time to reverse the apocalypse - it was only a matter of time before the second was announced.

What is The Umbrella Academy series two plot?
Series one was mostly based around 'Apocalypse Suite' - the comic's first volume along with a little of the second volume - 'Dallas.' But this time round, you can expect a lot more of the latter, according to creator Gerard Way (who's also the former My Chemical Romance lead singer, FYI).
Showrunner Steve Blackman teased a photograph of the script on Instagram earlier this week showing the title 'Right Back Where We Started' suggesting the new episodes will be set earlier in time.

Gerard said there are plans for eight comic book volumes in total so we're crossing our fingers for even more television series to follow once we've inevitably binge-watched the next.
Who stars in The Umbrella Academy series two?
Most of our old favourites will be back along with some newbies, too. "For me, it's gonna be so interesting to explore Vanya. It's like Vanya 2.0," says Ellen Page, the actress behind the character.

Klaus Hargreeves, played by Robert Sheehan, is also set to return. "He's constantly emerging into this new self. I'd love to see Klaus re-formed as something else, different completely. Hopefully, if the murmurings are to be believed, that's kind of where we're headed," the actor told Den of Geek.
But with the time travel factor to consider, we're not ruling out any of the series one stars - Mary J Blige included - making a comeback.

There's no word on an official release date so far but filming's due to start in Toronto, Canada - where much of the first series was filmed too - this summer.
