If you're counting down the days until the Gavin and Stacey's Christmas special, why don't you get reacquainted with Gavlar and the gang before then and watch every episode of the comedy on BBC iPlayer.

Proving that great programmes aren't just for Christmas, the broadcaster's player includes all three seasons of the beloved show so you can watch Smithy and his sister Rudi rap to 'American Boy' again and again until the festive one-off airs.

And that's not the only boxset available on BBC's streaming service as every episode of Miranda, Call the Midwife and Doctor Who are also available to watch and get you ready for their return this festive period.

Now back to the topic on everyone's lips, Gavin and Stacey. BBC finally revealed the festive special's plotline, which will be set ten years after we last went to Billericay to spend Christmas with the Shipmans and the Wests.

"This year we're off to Wales for the festivities, where Bryn's cooking dinner for over thirteen people," reads the official synopsis.

"Understandably, he's tense. Pam would secretly prefer to spend Christmas in Essex as she finds Gwen's house a bit lacking. But the deal has always been that they alternate every year, and this time it's the turn of the Wests to host Christmas with everyone under one small roof."

Meanwhile, Neil the Baby is all grown up, and Gavin and Stacey are parents themselves.

"For Gavin and Stacey, parenthood continues to present them with several challenges, their 'baby' now being ten. Smithy, too, continues to commit to his fatherly role, making the journey to Barry at weekends and every second Wednesday to see twelve-year-old Neil the Baby."

As for Nessa, the synopsis explains: "Nessa adopts her own brand of Nessa-style mothering whilst Pam, Mick and Gwen have become the epitome of doting grandparents.

"On Christmas Eve, Dawn makes a shocking discovery about Pete that jeopardises their marriage (again) and a visit to the pub that night is an eye-opener in more ways than one."

In May, James Corden confirmed the hit British sitcom - which ran for three seasons between 2007 and 2010 - was returning for a one-off festive special on Christmas Day, and excitement ensued.

'Gavin and Stacey' is only planned to return for a one-off but writer Ruth Jones has hinted there might be more (

While Gavin and Stacey is only planned to return for a one-off, writer Ruth Jones has hinted there might be more.

In an interview with Red magazine, Ruth explained that, while there are no concrete plans for more episodes, in her mind the door is always open.

"We will never again have the effect that we've had this time around, having said for 10 years that we're not doing any more and the announcing something special," said the Welsh comedy star.

"I think it would be churlish of me to say there won't be any more. The honest truth is there are no plans, but I don't think I could ever say never."
