Netflix has set the cast for its next true crime-inspired series based on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer with American Horror Story's Evan Peters taking the lead, according to reports.
Monster, which will follow the murderer's terrifying crime spree, will reportedly star Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown and Colin Ford.
Jeffrey Dahmer was a notorious serial killer and sex offender who killed 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
He died in November 1994 after being beaten to death by another inmate the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin.

The series is set to tell Dahmer's story from the perspective of his victims, focusing on "the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree," Deadline reports.
The series will be produced by American Horror Story Ryan Murphy alongside his Glee and Scream Queens collaborator Ian Brennan.
Janet Mock, who worked with Murphy on Pose, will reportedly direct and write several episodes of Monster. She will serve as an executive producer alongside Murphy, Brennan and Carl Franklin.

Jeffrey Dahmer has been the focus of several films including 2017's My Friend Dahmer which explored his 'coming of age', the 2002 flick Dahmer starring Marvel's Jeremy Renner and countless true crime documentaries.
Murphy and Peters have worked together on every season of American Horror Story - apart from 1984 - since the show began a decade ago in 2011.

In addition to Monster, Murphy is also working on the upcoming season of American Horror Story titled Double Feature.
The TV producer also has the next instalment of American Crime Story which is also in production. It will focus on the impeachment of President Bill Clinton in the midst of his affair with Monica Lewinsky.
