The actress, who played the hottest girl in school, Charlotte Hinchcliffe, said was excited to be reunited with the cast and crew but was told she was 'no longer needed' just days before filming began.

During a conversation on Captial FM, she was asked why she was absent from filming for the show's tenth anniversary celebration.

"Unfortunately, I don't really know what happened there," she told them. "I was booked to do it, was very much looking forward to doing it and then the day before I was told I was no longer needed for it."

But just as we'd expect from the Emily we fell in love with in the jungle, she handled the snub like a pro, insisting 'these things happen'.

"It's alright these things do happen and I think they just decided to go a different route with it, I don't know, or it was to do with production timings and things.

"These things do happen and they're just doing a different route I think and I wish them all the best and I know it's going to be great and the fans won't be disappointed."

Explaining how the snub actually happened, Emily added: "It was all very professional and it's just business. It happens all the time.

"You get booked to do something and then something happens, plans change and then sometimes you're not booked anymore."

Radio host Rob Howard then jokingly asked: "That was obviously over email then," and Emily made no effort to correct him.

She then joked that she wouldn't be tuning into the reunion show, which airs on New Year's Day, adding: "Of course I'll be watching it - because hopefully there'll be clips of me on there.

"No, I'll always support them. That programme was an incredible part of my life and always will be."
