Get ready for an all-American experience.

Have you ever fantasised about the all-American drive-in cinema experience?

Picture the scene: you and your beau sweep up to a moonlit cinema in your battered teen-mobile of a car, armed with buttery popcorn and a takeaway pizza, and cosy up for an evening of big screen magic.

It's a vision that has Grease written all over it - and it's coming to the UK this summer.

Yep, @TheDriveIn will bring its modern take on the retro drive-in cinema experience to 12 cities around the UK this summer.

With cinemas remaining shuttered for now, a drive-in experience where viewers are contained in their vehicles offers a practical alternative, with built-in social distancing.

Films ranging from 80s classics to noughties blockbusters will play on a top of the range LED screen while 50s-style roller waiters drop your food order to a (distanced) drop-off point by your car.

All screenings are preceeded by a range of entertainment, including stand-up comedy, bingo or silent car discos.

Tickets start at £35 and will be released on May 27th, with limited spaces available for each show.

The drive-ins will be pulling up in:

  • South London (2-7 July)
  • Birmingham (9-12 July)
  • Manchester (16-19 July)
  • Newcastle (23-26 July)
  • Edinburgh (30 July - 02 August)
  • Glasgow (6-9 August)
  • Liverpool (13-16 August)
  • Cardiff (20-23 August)
  • Bristol (27-30 August)
  • Southampton (3-6 September)
  • Brighton (10-13 September)
  • East London (17-20 September)

All cars will be parked over 2 metres apart, and toilet facilities will have extra hygiene measures will be in place in line with government guidelines.

With 6 shows per city, there's something for every film lover, from family friendly flicks to late night shows.

Given that entertainment options limited this summer, we're already planning our best Pink Ladies outfit for @The DriveIn.

Tickets for @The DriveIn start at £35 per car and go on sale 27th May.
