We were previously treated with a 90-second teaser in July, and now Disney have given us an early Christmas present by dropping the full trailer, which sees Chinese-American actress Liu Yifei take on the title role of Mulan from the 1998 film.

The trailer for the remake packs an emotional punch as we see Mulan leave her home in her father's place to fight the Huns with the Chinese army - desperate to bring honour to them all.

While the two-minute long clip is sure to bring a tear to your eye, some elements from the original animation are missing, including Mulan's beloved sidekick drago, Mushu.

The film tells the same story as the animated original of a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her elderly dad's place in the military.

As per the official synopsis: "When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father.

"Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential.

"It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation...and a proud father."

Mulan features a super starry cast including Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan and Yoson An as Cheng Honghui. Also appearing are Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the Emperor.

The latest live-action remake from Disney is directed by Niki Caro, and just like the original flick, comes from the screenplay by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan.
