A Brand New 'Muppets' Show Is Coming To Disney+ In July

Can you quote along to Kermit? Are you a Miss Piggy megafan?

Muppets Now is The Muppets Studio's first original series for the channel.

As the title suggests, the series will look at where all our favourite Muppets characters are today - with plenty of hilarious improv thrown in for good measure.

Disney+ announced the news yesterday, tweeting: "Lights! Music! Muppets! ...Unscripted! Get ready to see your favourite characters like never before in #MuppetsNow, an Original Series, coming July 31 only on #DisneyPlus."

So, what can we expect from the show?

Well, the six-episode season will follow Scooter as he rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming.

They are due now, meaning he'll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.

We're can expect a whole lot of chaos, then.

Disney+ describes the show's format as "overflowing with spontaneous lunacy, surprising guest stars and more frogs, pigs, bears (and whatevers) than legally allowed, the Muppet cut loose in "Muppet Now" with the kind of startling silliness and heartfelt fun that first made them famous."

Naturally, fans of the show are thrilled with the news.

"YES! Finally some muppets appreciation," commented one happy Twitter user.

"It's time to play the music, It's time to light the lights, It's time to meet the muppets, On the muppet show tonight," enthused another, rolling out the show theme.

"LOVE the muppets, looking forward to watching this," agreed a third.

Other commentators put forward suggestions of their favourite archive Muppet content that they'd like to see featured in the show, such as House of Mouse, Lloyds in Space and House of Villains.
