Anyone else absolutely love a shark film?
For us, it's our go-to hangover genre, providing the perfect amount of frightening yet funny viewing to accompany our takeaway with mates.
That's why we're thrilled by the news that the third instalment of in the Deep Blue Sea franchise (AKA one of the shark horror genre OGs) has finished production.
The third movie, Deep Blue Sea 3, was recently given an R-rating by the official classification body in the US, meaning filming has been wrapped up.
It's R-rating means it contains some violence, bloody images, and bad language. But what did we really expect from a film centred on a bunch of blood-thirsty, human-eating sharks, huh?
The movie follows the original 1999 flick - which starred Samuel L Jackson, Saffron Burrows, Thomas Jane and LL Cool J - and its 2018 sequel, which received less favourable reviews.
According to Exhibitor Relations Company - who describe themselves as 'The Box-Office Authority' - the third movie will forgo a cinema release and go straight to streaming.
The original movie follows a team of scientists based at an isolated underwater facility who are doing research on mako sharks to help find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
But things go west when multiple genetically engineered sharks go on a rampage and flood the facility.
The iconic movie brought us moments such as professor Jim Whitlock getting his arm bitten off in one fail swoop (a moment that still haunts us), LL Cool J getting trapped in his own oven as a shark tries to eat him and Samuel L. Jackson's character getting torn literally limb-from-limb while orating a speech about how they're all going to survive (lol).
The finale, where LL Cool J stabs the main shark in the eye, made us always want to carry about some Rosary Beads. You know, just in case.
According to IMDB, Deep Blue Sea 3 is being released on 28th July - though Warner Bros haven't confirmed the date.
Anyway, it's safe to say we're buzzing about it.
