The 10-part series followed the lives of two widows Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) who form an unlikely friendship after meeting at a bereavement support group.

Fans found the series hilarious, clever, unpredictable and perfectly bingeable when it landed on the streaming service - so we're majorly excited to learn that filming season two has official wrapped.

The news was confirmed by show star Linda Cardellini via an Instagram post. In it, she shared a photo of herself alongside her costar, Appleton and show creator Liz Feldman.

"Last day of shooting @deadtome #season2 today. THANK YOU to the brilliant and incredible #christinaapplegate & @thelizfeldman for everything every day. I love you both," the 44-year-old actress said.

She added: "PS- We are very excited for everyone to see what we have been doing..." Likewise, Linda.

Dead To Me tells the story of Jen and Judy who meet at a grief support group.

Jen, a real estate agent, is mourning her husband who was killed in a hit-and-run accident, while struggling to come to terms with the anger and resentment she feels at her loss. At the same time, Judy grieves her fiancé who died of a heart attack.

The women forge an unlikely friendship despite their different approaches to grief. However, Judy harbours a dark secret: she was involved in the death of Jen's husband, and her own isn't really dead.

The series was renewed for a second season in June this year.

While the team behind the show have remained tight-lipped about what's in store for part two, we do know that the show's leads, Applegate and Cardellini, are definitely returning. Well, it would hardly be the same with them.

Also reprising their roles are Max Jenkins as Jen's real estate partner Christoper, Luke Roessler as Jen's younger son Henry, Sam McCarthy as Jen's eldest son, Brandon Scott as police officer Nick and Ed Asner as Abe.

In a major spoiler, James Marsden was spotted filming scenes with Applegate in November, meaning Steve Wood is probably still alive. Either that or he's returning in flash backs.

Fans will remember that Jen shot Steve - Judy's ex husband - at the end of series one.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Liz said: "What I wanted to do was create a situation where they're forced together, and they need each other now in some ways more than they did at the beginning of season 1."

And in another interview with Hollywood Reporter, she added: "This show will always be a show that explores the dark sides and the light sides of grief, loss, forgiveness and friendship.

"So suffice to say, there will be more darkness."

Speaking about the possibility of more series, she said: "It would be the pleasure and honour of my life to do this show for as many seasons as makes sense. I would do this show forever if I could."

Now that's what we like to hear.
