Daisy May Cooper has confirmed she's working on a new comedy show with her brother, Charlie Cooper - and it could be the best telly news we've heard all year.

Daisy - who wrote This Country with Charlie - was speaking to Kate Thornton on her 'White Wine Question Time' podcast when she revealed the exciting news, explaining it will be totally different to the BBC show.

"Charlie and I have just started writing our new thing," she said.

"It's a period thing so it couldn't be more different from This Country but it's funny."

Daisy added that although it's "very early days" she's been enjoying writing for different characters.

"It's just been brilliant actually writing for different characters. With This Country we couldn't kind of write names for famous actors, it would have to be unknown so it's actually quite funny to have an actor in mind and be able to write a part for him specifically," she said.

"It is very early days but we are enjoying it."

The last episode of This Country aired earlier this year, and fans will be pleased to know that while Daisy's dad, Paul - who played Martin Mucklowe in the show - has ruled out another series, he has recently revealed there could be a special on the horizon at some point.

"There won't be another series but I wouldn't say no to a special or a film maybe in a few years time," he told Metro.

"A Christmas special is a possibility like Gavin and Stacey but not for a few years. The kids have got other projects they are looking at and I think they will write another comedy together but they want to explore other things."

Daisy and her dad Paul recently appeared on an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox together. But, following their appearance, Daisy was forced to clap back to a troll who tweeted: "Watching #celebritygogglebox and daisey may cooper looks like a TROLL."

However, Daisy responded in the best way to the online bully, sharing the tweet in a video on her Instagram page, alongside footage of herself dancing to the Trolls 2 remake of Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' - which features the lyrics "trolls just wanna have fun".
