Cynthia Nixon (aka Miranda Hobbes) has said she's all for Sharon Stone taking on the role of Samantha Jones, should there be a third Sex and the City movie.

Despite two films in 2008 and 2010, the possibility of a third instalment was shut down a few years ago when Kim Cattrall (who played Samantha throughout both the telly series and in both movies) said she wouldn't be taking part.

Now, Cynthia has weighed in on whether Samantha's character should be recast and specifically who she would like to see play the part.

Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Cynthia said: "I think Sharon would be, of course, totally amazing.

"Kim was incredibly great as Samantha, I think Sharon would totally make it her own.

"But I've also heard many people say - including Kim Cattrall herself - that if we were to have a different fourth woman that maybe it would be a woman of colour this time, and I think that would be amazing as well."

Meanwhile Sharon responded: "I think that's right" also adding that "anytime I could have an opportunity to work with Cynthia would be an honour to me."

A few years ago, Kim herself tweeted that she would like to see Oprah, Tiffany Haddish or Sofia Vergara play the role of Samantha.

"I am partial to @TheEllenShow but @Oprah was always my 1st. But then there are the goddess's @TiffanyHaddish or @SofiaVergara. So many fabulous actresses to choose from that will make Samantha their own!" Said Kim in 2018.

The third Sex and The City movie was cancelled back in 2017, with Kim claiming she said no to the movie the year before.

Many wondered if her reluctance was partly down to the reported feud between Kim and Sarah Jessica Parker.

When Kim's brother tragically passed away in 2018, after going missing in Canada, she accused Sarah of "exploiting her tragedy".

SJP had sent a public message to Kim at the time, writing: "Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother."

Kim responded: "My Mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.

"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Sarah later said she was heartbroken over claims they were never friends.
